Banksy started his art career as a freehand street graffiti artist in and around bristol in the early 1980's, he was believed to be a member of the DryBreadZ Crew.
He developed a distinctive of style of using stencilling which allowed work to be put up quickly and his work soon started appearing in London as well as in Bristols. His graffiti art are often satirical pieces focusing on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics. However he is perhaps best known for the highly charismatic Grafitti rats series which sprung up in various cities. These rats range are shown in a range of satirical and comical forms including, paparazzi rats, welding rats, parachuting rats and placard waving rats.
Another of Banksy's most famous pieces is the iconic 'flower thrower' image which shows a masked rioter about to hurl a bunch of flowers.
His works are now very sought after, and hence the prices of 'original' Banksy's have gone through the roof . Buyers of his work now include Hollywood A-listers such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
